Featured in Voyage Pennsylvania's Hidden Gems Series

Every great story starts with a vision, and we're honored to have our founder, Anthony Cassara, featured by Voyage Pennsylvania as part of their Hidden Gems Series — a spotlight on the local businesses and creatives shaping their communities.

From Backyard Movies to a Boutique Agency

In the interview, Anthony traces the True Productions story back to high school, where a fascination with movies turned into a small business making video slideshows for teachers and videos for prom and sports teams. A consumer camcorder from his parents, a self-taught crash course in editing software, and a media services degree in college all fed the same instinct: figure out how to tell a story on camera, then figure out how to build a business around it.

After college, Anthony worked as a video editor for Comcast SportsNet — but the entrepreneurial pull, instilled by his own father, never let up. He gave his two weeks' notice, landed a retainer for double his Comcast salary almost immediately, rented an office, hired his first employee, and never looked back. That was 2008. True Productions has been growing ever since.

What's Driven Us for Almost 20 Years

Anthony is candid in the interview that the road hasn't always been smooth — economic downturns, shifting technology, and a pandemic that forced the team to rethink how (and where) they worked. What's stayed constant are the Four Golden Rules that guide everything at True Productions:

  • Do what you say.
  • Finish what you start.
  • Show up on time.
  • Say please and thank you.

Those principles, paired with a deliberate decision to build two complementary business lines — video production and web development — have helped the company weather the industry's ups and downs. When one side slows down, the other tends to pick up the slack.

Saying Yes, Saying No, and Staying a Student

One of our favorite parts of the interview is the story behind how True Productions expanded beyond video. A client once asked, half-jokingly, if we could help with a website project. We said yes — even without a clear roadmap yet — and that single "yes" grew into an entire web development division. The same pattern repeated when we added CRM and marketing automation services.

Anthony's advice for anyone starting something new echoes that same philosophy: research the thing, commit to the thing, and do the thing — consistently. As he puts it, "A pro is always in school." It's a mindset that shapes how we work with clients today: serving as a trusted partner who helps businesses navigate technology, rather than just executing a checklist.

Grateful for the Journey So Far

Reading back through Anthony's story is a reminder of how far True Productions has come — from a one-person operation with a borrowed camcorder to a boutique digital agency serving small businesses across video production, web development, and marketing automation.

We're grateful to Voyage Pennsylvania for the feature, and even more grateful to the clients, partners, and supporters who have been part of this journey. Your trust is what allows us to keep doing what we love every day.
